This week on television, a woman described the feeling of seeing live theater for the first time in months. She said she started to cry when the play started. For many of us, staying inside is still the best option. ETC, has stepped up to the technological plate, to allow us to experience the arts and have that moment when our eyes water up in joy.

The next performance is “The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical”, November 13 to December 12, 2020.

If the time is right for you, attend in person. If not, reserve your wine glass and slippers and enjoy the show!

Older and Wiser Book Reviews

By Marsha Wilson Rappaport

What can you say about the incredible acting skills of Kevin Daugherty? In “Fully Committed”, he literally acts out the personas of 33 people, and you can’t look away. What could possibly hold your attention that long, you ask? Without giving away any plot twists, let me drop some hints:

Questions:

Have you ever had to take a crappy job in order to buy groceries while you worked at your art or true calling?
Have you ever had a self-centered, egotistical, crappy boss?
Have you ever had pretentious, nouveau riche types, talk down to you?
Have you ever had lazy, dishonest co-workers that left you holding the bag?

Answers: Haven’t We ALL!

That being the case, Daugherty’s performance was totally relatable. And as you can imagine, completely frenetic as he switched personalities, accents and attitudes.

Kim Mytelka, did a masterful job of directing a complex performance that could have run off the rails at any time. Kudo’s to Jennifer Daugherty, Stage Manager and Thomas Boone, Scenic Design for a set that didn’t interfere with the performance, and yet set the right mood and tone.

GOOD NEWS – YOU CAN SEE THIS RIGHT NOW!

Kudo’s, to Mytelka for facing the challenge of opening up safety. Better, still give the overall drama of 2020, for going the distance to provide a full set of options. Attendance at a live performance is now possible, streaming it live is possible, watching it later is possible, and even downloading a full program brochure is on tap on their website.
